FERRY  SERVICES

Your airplane, moved by a professional pilot.

Former Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilot and T-45 instructor. Over 1000 hours, commercial certificate, flight instructor.

I have flown across the country in everything from a single seat Rhino to a 1951 Piper Pacer. I am comfortable operating in new environments, in weather that requires a decision, and on fields without a tower or a mechanic.

WHEN OWNERS CALL ME

You bought an airplane far from home.

It needs to get to your hangar and you would rather not spend a week of leave doing it.

Maintenance position.

Your shop is four states away, or the only avionics house that will touch your panel has a six-month waitlist and an airport you have never flown into.

Post-annual or post-restoration.

The airplane has not flown in months. You want someone who will find the problems before you and your family do.

Relocation.

You moved. The airplane needs to follow.

You are not current, or not comfortable.

Nothing wrong with that. A long cross country in an unfamiliar airplane is a real workload, and knowing when to hand it off is good judgment.

Traildraggers Especially

Most ferry pilots want a tricycle gear airplane with a glass panel. I would rather have a stick, a tailwheel and a paper chart.

If you have bought a Cub, a Champ, a Citabria, a Pacer or a Stearman that needs to come home, this is the work I want.

HOW IT WORKS

01

Tell me the airplane and the two airports.

Make, model, registration, condition, and when it last flew.

Make, model, registration, condition, and when it last flew.

02

I verify insurance before anything else.

I carry my own coverage, and I will confirm I meet your policy's open pilot requirements or get myself named on it. You will see this in writing before I go near the airplane.

03

I inspect before I launch.

Logbooks, airworthiness, a thorough preflight and a test hop if the airplane has been sitting. If it is not safe to fly, I will tell you and I will not fly it. That is the whole value of hiring a pilot instead of a delivery service.

04

You get updates enroute.

Position, weather holds, and an honest arrival estimate.

05

Weather gets a vote.

I will sit on the ground rather than push a marginal day in someone else's airplane. Schedules are estimates and I will say so up front.

RATES

Quoted per trip. The quote accounts for distance, aircraft type, condition, season and return travel.

Fuel, oil, landing and tiedown fees, and my return transportation are billed at cost. You approve the total before I depart.
